Job Description

Position Overview:

The thermal lab technician role will support research and development of new systems and designs for 2 phase immersion cooled IT equipment. The role requires the ability to be effective across thermal, mechanical, and electrical domains. Typically, you will be the first person to see data as it is being collected from a test system. Your attention to detail when performing experiments and documentation of your observations are valuable to understanding of new products.


Key Responsibilities:

·        Setup and instrumentation of thermal test systems

·        Making thermocouple wires and cable harnesses

·        Wiring of power supplies and test equipment

·        Set up fluid, pump, and piping systems

·        Set up data acquisition systems (DAQS)

·        Executing experimental test operations

·        Running test cases according to engineer defined test plans

·        Setting power level, fluid temperature, flowrate, and other parameters defined in engineering DOES

·        Collection of raw data via DAQS

·        Adjusting physical settings of test setup, such as spacing of components or modifying test fixtures

·        Post processing of experimental data

·        Parsing, sorting, and organizing raw data for engineering analysis

·        Working with engineers to identify opportunities to improve test setups, workflows and DOES to delivery results in a timely manner



·        High school diploma or equivalency certificate

·        Experience in laboratory or clean room environments

·        Fluent in the Office platform (Microsoft Word and Excel)

·        Good understanding of basic mathematical concepts

·        Basic understanding of DC and AC electrical systems and wiring

·        Basic understanding of thermal systems or electronics cooling

·        Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools, power tools, and solder equipment

·        Comfortable adjusting on the fly, reworking equipment, and finding creative solutions for custom experimental test setups

·        Attention to detail and taking pride in your work

Additional Requirements:

·        Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted

·        Ability to wear PPE as needed

·        Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting. pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position
